What does the Bible say about people who do harm?
The Bible teaches us that evil comes from the human heart. Let’s see what types of evil exist and what God’s justice is for each one.
Sin is the reality that affects all humanity since the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Sin is disobedience to God’s will, rebellion against his authority, moral impurity that contaminates our nature and the cause of our separation from God and our eternal damnation.
The Bible teaches us that sin has both personal and collective consequences, both present and future, both temporal and eternal. Sin separates us from God, makes us his enemies, deprives us of his blessing, makes us slaves to evil, destroys us inside and out, and exposes us to his wrath and his judgment.
The Bible also shows us that sin has been the problem of human history, from the beginning to the end. Sin has caused suffering, violence, injustice, oppression, corruption, idolatry, apostasy, and death in the world. Sin has been the obstacle to God’s plan to bless the nations and establish his kingdom of peace and justice.
However, the Bible also reveals to us that God has a solution for sin: redemption through Jesus Christ. God, in His love and grace, sent His only begotten Son into the world to die on the cross for our sins and be resurrected on the third day for our justification. Jesus Christ is the only one who can forgive our sins, cleanse our conscience, restore our communion with God, free us from the power of evil, transform our lives, and give us the hope of eternal life.
